grease ball

So here I am on day eight of no poo. After years of trying to find a shampoo that didnt irritate my scalp into oblivion I have finally given up and thrown my last fancy organic no SLR paraben free expensive shampoo in the bin. My hair has to be washed every other day normally as it does get greasy, now it is extremely greasy. I have tried the water only method, which as yet doesnt work for me, as the following day I had to resort to talc to soak up all the grease then wash it with the bicarb and then the apple cider vinegar rinse. I suffer terribly with an itchy scalp because of the irritation from the shampoo and I find the cider rinse very soothing and softening on the hair. It also adds a very nice shine. I started eight days ago with one length hair well below the bra strap level, but I found with the natural oils coming down the hair that it makes each hair shaft thicker and heavier, which I found too much on top of everything else. So out came the scissors and I cut off four inches in length and layered it all through so now it sits just below the shoulder. It has been quite a relief to lighten the load! I am beginning to see though that the oiled shafts are the ones that are starting to look more natural and that the ends of the hair that once looked normal are now the areas that are starting to look too dry and dull. I have the feeling that by next week I might be rubbing oil in my palms then running it down the dry ends just to even things up
